Fact of the day

Jalandhar, capital of Punjab (until 1953, when Chandigarh took over). Betcha not many of my fellow Jalandharis knew about this (certainly no one ever mentioned this to me, WTF??). All thanks to Wikipedia. (Disclaimer: Haven't verified the authenticity of this statement at all)

Thought I would post something before this blog hits the "two-year not in use" landmark. Now it can rest again for almost another two years...

Bonus Fact: Jalandher Cantt is one of the oldest cantonments in India, and its construction started in 1948 1848.

You mean 1848?

Oh yeah! Thanks for the correction JC.

btw, Nagpur was the capital of the Central Province (includes current Maharahtra, Madhya Pradesh & Chattisgarh) till the 1956 states reorganization. it was the winter capital whereas Panchmari was the summer capital.
